Three Subgroups of Neanderthals Identified

"Using computer simulations to analyze DNA sequence fragments from 12 Neanderthal fossils, researchers found that the species can be separated into three, or maybe four, distinct genetic groups." Groups were likely in (1) Western Europe, (2) Southern Europe near the Mediterranean, (3) Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and possibly in (4) Western Asia.
